Our Little Cardinals Come and Try sessions for the 2018-19 season will be held on the 19th and 26th of October. All past Little Cardinals are welcome to join us, so they can help us show “the new kids” the ropes! The season will then start in earnest on Friday 2nd November, 6pm – 7pm. Roll Call will happen right on 6pm, so I encourage all of you to be there by 5.45pm whenever possible. Check the Little Cardinals schedule for all of the important dates.
We are so excited about the new season, as Baseball SA has now introduced a league endorsed Pee Wee League (U9) competition. Our Little Cardinals who have birthdays between 1st September 2011 and 31st August 2012 (League Age 7) and 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2011 (League Age 8) are eligible for the competition.
We plan to have at least one team in the Pee Wee League, which will be coached on the Friday nights during the regular Little Cardinals session (6pm – 7pm) by our wonderful Austin (Gally) Gallagher. There will be 8 games, scheduled for a Sunday morning (don’t know times or opponents yet) which are: 18/11, 25/11, 2/12, 9/12, 3/2, 10/2, 17/2, 24/2. When possible, we will work with other teams to possibly move our home games to a Friday night, but until we know the full schedule I can’t promise anything! On a Sunday morning we will need to have an Assistant Coach on hand to run things, as Gally also Coaches Division 2 and plays in Division 1, both of which are on a Sunday!
Our younger players will also be able to participate this year in a couple of Mighty Bite Tball Carnivals – this is for League Age 5 and 6 year olds and may be a little like herding sheep, but we’ll see how it goes! I’ve attached the playing rules for the Carnivals too – dates and venues are yet to be confirmed, but I understand they will be on a Friday night.
As there are several Baseball SA endorsed additions to our Little Cardinals programme this year, all children participating in Little Cardinals will be required to be registered through Baseball SA as well as registered through the Kensington Baseball Club.
